FAQ

How much are hula show tickets?

Our hula show tickets start at $100 per person (plus tax). Kids ages 3 and under get FREE admission.

What should i expect at the hula show?

Beginning at 5:00 PM, enjoy 30-45 minutes of traditional Hawaiian music during our pre-show. The pre-show includes traditional Hawaiian music performed by live musicians and accompanied by a solo dancer. After a short intermission, come journey with us through the Pacific starting in the beautiful islands of Hawai’i.

Enjoy classic Hawaiian favorites through mele, oli, and traditional hula as we honor and learn about Hawai'i's cultural stories. We’ll then take you to Aotearoa (New Zealand), where you’ll learn about the haka and storytelling through song and dance from our Māori brothers and sisters. On to Tahiti, experience the dynamic energy and learn how movement and rhythm convey ancestral stories. The final stop on this journey brings us to Samoa, where the dazzling fire knife dance honors courage, tradition, and the role of fire in Samoan ceremonies. We’ll then end the evening with 10-15 minutes of live traditional Hawaiian music.

Our hula show is more than entertainment—it’s an immersive, cultural journey designed to educate and inspire. Through authentic storytelling and powerful performances, we share the history, meaning, and traditions behind each dance and chant, offering a deeper understanding and education of hula and the interconnected cultures of Polynesia. Our hula show is a celebration of Hawai'i's rich cultural heritage, and we hope it will leave you with a new wealth of knowledge and feeling inspired, uplifted, and full of aloha.

Is the food included in the hula show?

No food is included at our evening Hula Show. Exclusive menu options can be added to evening show tickets for an addition fee. Check out Kitoko's dinner menu for more details here.

South Maui Gardens also has 10+ diverse food trucks to choose from at Kihei Food Oasis. If you decide to purchase food from our onsite food trucks, you're more than welcome to bring into the Hula Show. Check out our onsite food options here. Outside food is not permitted—mahalo for understanding!

What educational value does your hula show provide?

Our Hula Show is designed to go beyond entertainment by weaving cultural education into every part of the evening. Guests learn the history, meaning, and traditions behind each chant, song, and dance.

  • In Hawaiʻi, we share the significance of mele (song), oli (chant), and hula as a way to preserve stories and honor the ʻāina (land).
  • In Aotearoa (New Zealand), guests learn how the haka and Māori storytelling express ancestry, identity, and unity.
  • In Tahiti, we explore how rhythm, movement, and drumbeats preserve genealogies and cultural memory.
  • In Samoa, the fire knife dance is explained as a tradition of courage and ceremony.

Through narration, audience participation, and authentic performances, guests leave with a deeper understanding of the interconnected cultures of Polynesia and the role dance and storytelling play in keeping traditions alive.

Each person is also welcomed with a kukui nut lei, a Hawaiian symbol of enlightenment and knowledge, reinforcing that the evening is not just entertainment—it’s a chance to learn, grow, and carry forward the light of aloha.
